Welcome to ParkinsonsOnline.org

This site is for those who realize that there is more to Parkinson's Disease than they were taught in school or were told by their doctors.  Ten years ago it was sincerely believed that the brain was incapable of growth and repair. Now we know that this is not so, even though we don't yet know just how to take advantage of that precious fact.

In that same period the "blooming" of the Internet has linked researchers all over the planet. It has linked patients as well - not only to one another but also to the great libraries of the world. Educated and informed people dealing with the disease every day have a major contribution to make. This site is a part of that.

This website is guided by the following assumptions:
1) That Parkinson's Disease is a complex disorder requiring a collaborative effort by multiple disciplines;
2) That those disciplines include at a minimum neurology, immunology, endocrinology, and gastroenterology;
3) That the answers to many of the questions about PD already exist in the literature but that the incredible volume of the accumulated data requires a team approach; and
4) That technology has reached a point of critical mass that makes it possible for researchers from all over the world to combine their talents in search of a solution to a common problem.

This effort will succeed or fail based upon the level of participation by people like yourself.
  • If the demands of career limit your time, then do what you can. The most valuable action you could perform would be to suggest a visit to your colleagues, staff, and students. Thank you in advance.
  • If it is the disease itself that you face, then educate yourself so that you may make your own contribution. Everything that you need to begin is here.
